We are excited to provide a transition-specific curriculum serving learners aged 18 to 22 years old.

Based on IDEA 2004 Transition Serviced

  • Designed to be a results-oriented process
  • Based on the individual learner’s needs (strengths, preferences and interests) 
  • Aimed to facilitate the learner’s movement from school to post-school activities (continuing and adult education, independent living and community participation)

The OATECA Transition Add-On (18-22 year old) is aligned with:

Four Components

There are four main components to this Add-On, with three assessments and one development curriculums:
  • Functional Communication Assessment
  • Job Interest Assessment
  • Transition Skill Abilities Assessment
  • Transition Skill Development
There is also an ancillary component with community-based instruction planning and ideas for classroom funding.

Four-Year Implementation

Year One: 
  • Assess interests and skills. 
  • Expand Self-Advocacy and Life skills.
  • Explore & Acquire Job-specific skills.​
Year Two:
  • Develop & practice intermediate Job-specific skills at school site.
  • Work on community-based skills (e.g. shopping, library, post office, community center, etc.)
Year Three:
  • Visit work site of top three interests for observation and practicum experiences.
Year Four:
  • Worksite with job coach (i.e. WAT program)

Upon the completion of OSDE Competencies, we will be able to provide a cost estimate for the OATECA Transition Add-On serving learners aged 18 to 22 years old.
