An OATECA Assistive Technology Evaluation begins with our AT team gathering information. Your IEP school team will complete the request form for an evaluation in which the team places information about the student, including school tasks that the student is finding it difficult or impossible to complete. After we receive your student information, our team will visit your school site to observe, and work with the student. This will allow OATECA to identify appropriate assistive technology recommendations and demonstrate the use of these recommendations with the student. OATECA will provide data collection forms to go with each recommendation so that the school IEP team can track and collect appropriate data to help make wise AT decisions. The team will then return to the school site and meet with the IEP team to share the full report as well as provide multiple resources for obtaining recommended AT.
