An AT evaluation begins with an observation of the student performing tasks in their typical educational setting they are unable to complete independently. After the observation, OATECA staff will work with the student directly to introduce specific AT recommendations. OATECA staff will work with all pertinent school staff to demonstrate and train on any AT recommendations. If any equipment needs to be borrowed, OATECA staff will assist school district staff in loaning equipment through Oklahoma Able Tech. OATECA staff will also leave data tracking forms with school staff to track the use and success/failure of the AT recommendations. The data will be collected for 30 school days, at which time the IEP team will reconvene to review data and make any successful AT recommendations a part of the student's IEP.
